• Samui catamaran in thailand has 3 catamarans hobie cat 16 getaway

The Hobie 16 is probably the  most popular sport catamaran,  for its recreational and leisure use and for its  racing design. The boat measures: 5.05 meters (16.7 feet) long by 2.43 (7.11 feet) wide, has a mast 7.92 m (26.6 feet)  height but his weight does not exceed 150 kg. Like its little brother the HC14, it is expected to go to the beach in the waves and rolls back almost surfing.

In contrast to the dinghies and keelboats, the HC16 has asymmetrical hulls which act as planes of drift and preventing it from disappearing under the crosswind. The jib and the mainsail is fully battened and offer an area of more than 20 square meters (218 square feet). By analogy with the American sports car we can say that the Hobie 16 is a powerful engine mounted on a frame rather crude, which gives it a "handling" surprising when the wind reached force 4 or greater, the Hobie 16 can capsize conventionally from the side, but also by the front (power), even from behind.

The athletes appreciate the playful side and "fun" of "missile, but this abundance of power sailing tends to twist the mounting platform whose columns is about to take the game over the years. A trapeze is usually used by the crew and helmsman to keep the boat hull over rise in the wind.

Without mastery, the Hobie 16 may have a tendency to "bake" for downwind. The sail plan necessarily high and the distribution of reserve buoyancy on the back rather than make the front of the hull tends to dive into the sea downwind, potentially at least block the progression of the boat and at worst to make power. If the wind dictates, the crews of sailing dinghies and other catamarans have an incentive to stand on the back to prevent this trend. This is essential in the Hobie 16, the very form "bananée" hulls making this position a must. The Getaway is sold as a social boat and has more space than other Hobie Cat (it is expected to carry up to 6 adults). The boat has a trampoline at a time before and behind the mast and is the only Hobie Cat rotomoulded series that has a jib and a trapeze. Measuring 16 feet 7 inches, Getaway is as long as the Hobie 16. Its boom is 7 feet 8 inches and mat is 25 feet high.

The catamaran wharram hitia 17 is a catamaran raid homebuilders designed by the "witch" ,  James Wharram, catamaran cruise builder.

With 5.18 m, it is well suited to day trips and hikes a few days in autonomy. The large boxes in the hulls can easily take camping gear or picnic.

Its platform can support a tent camp for the evening.

The sprit rig or gaff sail supports a relatively small (I confess that I preferred a classic rig). Yet it would be capable of good bursts of speed from his fans.

This small sail area coupled with a large width makes this catamaran specifically for its size.

The absence of drift and low weight  greatly facilitates the beaching.
